Kumiko Imamura

Once described, 'A skillful instrumentalist and shrewd programmer' (by NY Concert Review), Kumiko Imamura studied piano, harpsichord, and forte piano. She performed numerous orchestras such as with Little Orchestra Society at the Lincoln Center, Kanagawa Philharmonic Orchestra, Staten Island Symphony, New Brunswick Chamber Orchestra, New york Symphonic Ensemble, and chamber music such as Bronx Arts Ensemble, Virginia Quartet, Venus Trio, as well as appeared at Noonday Concert at the Trinity Church at the Wall Street in NY, and theConcert Series of Kawai and Bosendorfer in Tokyo.

She taught at Rutgers University as a part time lecturer, Rutgers Community Music Program ( former Extension Division), Dutchess Community College, Allegheny Summer Festival, Suzuki International Institute at Dolomites in Italy, Hartt Summer Suzuki Institute, Burgos International Music Festival and Summit Music Academy at Castelnuovo di Garfagnana. She is a founder of International Junior Piano Institute in Uozu, Japan.

Her students received top prizes at Renee Fischer Competition, J.Y.Park Piano Competition, Chopin International Competition Hartford, NLPA International Young Artists Competition, Westchester Musicians Guild Young Artists Competition, CT Bach Competition, Enkor Competition, and were selected to perform at Honors Recital at Colorado Suzuki Institute and for masterclasses at the Suzuki National Conference in Minneapolis.

Kumiko received BM from Senzoku College of Music、 MM and PSC from Manhattan School of Music、 and further studied at Rutgers University Mason Gross Art School. Her major teachers are Karl Urlich Schnabel, Marc Silverman, Bela Szilacyi. Futaba Inoue, Naoyuki Inoue, (piano) Jacques Ogg, and Kenneth Cooper ( harpsichord), and Max Barros (fortepiano). Currently Kumiko is a head of piano department at Suzuki Music School of Westport and serves as president for Connecticut State Music Teachers Association Fairfield County.
