Rebecca Christopherson
Rebecca has been playing the violin since she was two. She added piano when she was three and a half and studied and competed in both instruments while growing up. She began her studies as a double major, ultimately dropping the piano to a minor and adding cello as a minor. She received her Bachelor of Music in Violin Performance from The Ohio State University.
She has completed all of her Suzuki violin teacher training through the Suzuki Association of the Americas and is currently a member of the European Suzuki Association. She began teaching while in college in a Suzuki program founded by her mother, Ginny Christopherson.
Rebecca relocated to Connecticut to direct the Bethwood Suzuki School in Woodbridge. A year later, she moved to Westport and founded the Suzuki Music School of Westport, where she taught violin, piano and cello in addition to managing 350 students and 12 students. After ten years, she founded the Talent Education Suzuki School (TESS) in Norwalk, with similar responsibilities.
She also coached chamber ensembles. She was a member of first violin section of the Norwalk Symphony Orchestra for fifteen years, as well as a member of the Board of Directors. She also founded the Norwalk Arts Commission to build a stronger arts community there.
After twelve years in Norwalk, Rebecca moved to Algarve, Portugal in 2019. She has founded the Suzuki Program of Portimão, offering lessons in violin and piano and is a freelance violinist.
